Bradford Turns One!

"Sweetie Pie" as she has been affectionately coined by big brother, turned one on July 24, 2008. Everyone keeps telling me how fast the time flies, especially with subsequent children, and they are absolutely right! What a wonderful first year we had with the addition of our sweet little girl. She bring us so much unexplained joy, her zest for life is contagious, she keeps us laughing, she keeps us on our toes, and she's generally a very happy baby. Did I mention that she is beautiful? I know I'm biased and her mother and all, but Bradford has the most gorgeous blue eyes that captivate you. She now has blond hair that appears to be straight on most days. It will curl up when it is humid, but for the most part it is straight. (I feel like I have so much catching up to do...milestones, etc...so bear with me.)

Having an older brother to keep up with, she began cruising around furniture around 9 months old. Officially she took her first steps alone on June 16, 2008, 10 1/2 months old. One day Chris started yelling for me to come in the den. Thinking something was really wrong, I rushed in there to see Bradford standing by herself in the middle of the room. She had this look on her face that said, "OK, that's great...I'm standing alone. Cool. Now how do I get myself out of this?" So we figured it was a matter of time before she started walking. And now she's running everywhere! She has this cute little waddle sometimes. I'm sure Wyatt had it too...I just can't remember. And sometimes when she walks, she moves her head side to side like she has a tune in her head. It's so cute!

Well, back to the post title. Bradford's first birthday was on a Friday and we were scheduled to have a party the next day. Unfortunately she woke up that morning with a mild case of hand/foot/mouth disease. It sounds worse than it actually was, but since it was highly congatious, we rescheduled her party. Instead we had a low-key day at home with the four of us together. It was nice. Her party was a lot of fun and she really enjoyed the cake! I had never ordered a child size cake from Magic Muffin before and it turned out HUGE! But the neatest thing was that her cake said "Sweetie Pie" on it. Oh yeah, the sweetie pie story...Every morning Wyatt is usually up before Bradford. When I hear her bumping around or talking to herself, I'll tell him I'm going to get sister out of her bed. He has to beat me up the stairs into her room and he'll fling open the door, rush in, and declare, "Good morning Sweetie Pie!" It usually sounds more like Sweetie Pieeee! So sweet that he wants to greet her like that. Of course she just cackles and squeels!
